“To a Wild Rose” Peek Through Card

Hello everyone! I am happy to finally share my favorite card that features my favorite bundle: “To a Wild Rose”.  I copied this card from a demonstrator inspiration/training email.  There was only a picture in the email;  I had to figure out the supplies, peek through technique, and assembling on my own.  Took a little bit of work but I love the layout and colors so much it was worth it. Plus, now I can share it with all of you. 🙂

Scroll down past the pictures of the card to find a video walking you through how to create this card.

I love the white on white of the die cuts on the card base and how that contrasts with the pops of color from the leaves and flower. I adhered the three background die cuts with liquid glue. Then I die cut a circle off to the right hand side using the second largest regular (non-scalloped) circle die cut from the Layering Circle Die set. I cut the frame with the first and third largest circle dies from the same set and adhered the frame with glue dots. The basic black banner is 3/8″ x 3 1/2″. I flagged the right end, embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and adhered the banner with glue dots to the frame.

The peek through element even looks sharp from the inside. 🙂 I decided to include a frame on the inside to keep the clean, minimalist look. Remind me of a ship’s porthole. lol

The flower uses two of three flower stamps from the To a Wild Rose Set.  There is an base layer, an accent layer, and an outline layer. I used Grapefruit Grove for my base layer and Calypso Coral for the accent layer.  I skipped the outline on this flower.  I stamped the center of the flower in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I popped the flower up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and arranged the leaves and black accent pieces around the flower, adhering them with glue dots.

Here’s the video I filmed that walks you through how to create this card. Please leave me a comment letting me know what you think.  I welcome your feedback. If you like what you see please also “like” this video on YouTube. I appreciate your support!

Bird Ballad Cards with Stampin’ Blends

Hello! I’ve had a wonderful time coming up with these cards using product from the Bird Ballad Suite. It’s such a sweet, elegant group of products. I really love that Stampin’ Up! has created an ordering number for the entire suite (for those of you who are like me and want everything in the suites we like). They also still have ordering number for individual products in each suite.

Check the end of this post for a YouTube video showing how to color and assemble these three cards. Thanks for taking a look! I invite you to leave me a comment on this post letting me know what you think of my cards. I love your feedback!

These delicate laser-cut notecards come with beautiful envelopes with scalloped flaps. The notecards are sold in a pack of 12 and come in a gorgeous petal pink tin with copper decoration. Check that out in the product link at the end of this post.

I hold about three classes a month in my home in Racine, WI and I always make sure that one of them is a Stampin’ Blends class. I really love coloring with these alcohol-based blending markers. I am always on the lookout for stamp sets that work well with coloring and the Blends markers. The “Free as a Bird” stamp set from this suite is one of those great for coloring sets.

The Designer Series Paper is usually what grabs my eye first from each suite and this Bird Ballad DSP was no exception. These charming designs and soft colors really spoke to me. Check out the video for another version of this card featuring a different DSP design.

Stampin’ Up! added another die set with stitching to their die set line up with the Stitched Nested Labels dies from this suite. The Free as a Bird Stamp Set and the Stitched Nested Labels dies are available in a bundle for a 10% discount. I used the largest and third largest dies to make the frame for this second card. To do this you run them through a die cutting machine at the same time.

The above photo shows one of the four designs from the delightful Bird Ballad Trinkets.  Below you can see that I decided to change things up on the inside of my card and add what was left when I cut out my frame.

When I cut out white piece of cardstock for the sentiment in the card above I was left with a really cool negative image that cried out “sponge with me!” I was inspired to create this card below. You can see how I did that in the video.

I’m not sure how well you can see in the picture above but I did color the birds with my Seaside Spray Blends even with the Petal Pink sponging below the image, and it looks really neat. I also colored over the bird image with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Really adds a WOW factor to the simpler design of this card. I must have added these later, but I did put a few Rhinestones on this card too. It seems I thought of that at the end of the video. lol

Here’s the video I made that shows how to color and assemble these three cards. You will also get a more complete look at the products in the Bird Ballad Suite. Check it out and leave me a comment. I love to hear your thoughts! Be sure to “like” the video if you enjoyed the cards. 🙂

Lemon Lime Twist Thank You Card & Berry Burst Birthday Card

Today I have the last two cards for you that I made for my new In Color class a few weeks ago. It has been fun to relive the class through blogging. Please leave me a comment and let me know if you’ve enjoyed these In Color cards and coordinating card box (see links near end of post). Scroll to the bottom of my this blog post for card dimensions and supply lists. Both of the cards today showcase the delightful Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. It was available in the last annual catalog in Night of Navy. I have very much enjoyed the makeover this DSP received in the new annual catalog. 🙂 Amazing how different it looks with these bright and cheery In Colors.

The inside of the card has a floral image from the Floral Phrases stamp set that coordinates with the Fresh Florals DSP stack as well as a sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  I really like how well the floral image goes with this particular design from the DSP stack.I just adore the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon that is available in all five new In Colors.  I am not very talented with bows so I am always trying to think of different ways to use ribbon that I like. This Lemon Lime card shows an alternative way I came up with to use the ribbon.  It’s like a ribbon shaped ribbon. lol Hard to describe.

I secured the ribbon to the back of the circles by laying down some Snail first and also putting some dimensionals down with half the dimensional on the ribbbon and half of it on the cardstock. This allowed me to pop the ribbon/circle piece up as well as really secure the ribbon in place.

If you’ve read some of my blog posts before, you may know that I love stamping on Stampin’ Up! envelopes – they are specifically designed for it! I thought I was a little inventive with this envelope stamping. 🙂 I stamped the floral image upside down on the front (still looks great, huh?) with the idea of the recipient’s address being written above it (where my watermark is). I stamped the floral image on the back of the envelope specifically where I did as if it was a wax seal. The elegance of this floral image made me think of the olden days when wax seals were used to ensure the letter arrived to the recipient unopened.

I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) this Berry Burst Happy Birthday card from fellow demonstrator Jodi Reinert at Stampin’ With Jodi. I changed the punch and sentiment and added the bow.  The inside and outside sentiments are part of an awesome stamp set that carried over into the new annual catalog. The set is called “Better Together” and is a collection of coordinating sentiments for inside and outside the card. I have really been liking those lately.

These Bitty Bows are also available in all five of the new 2017-2019 In Colors. I can’t get enough of them! I also can’t get enough of the Stitched Shapes Framelits that first debuted as an early release to last year’s Holiday Catalog. It is a super versatile framelit set because it has four of each of the following shapes: squares, circles, and ovals.  A great buy if you can’t afford all of the layering framelits sets Stampin’ Up! offers. I popped the die cut up over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

During the month of August demonstrators get to preorder from the Holiday Catalog. But it’s not just demonstrators who get to have all the fun – you too can preorder the “Carols of Christmas” stamp set and coordinating “Card Front Builder Thinlits” dies (separately or in a bundle), through the end of August. You can even use your Bonus Days coupons that you earned in July towards this stamp set and die set. The Holiday Catalog goes live for customers September 1st.

I hope you are inspired to use ribbon in different ways on your projects and to pull out that beautiful DSP you’ve purchased and to actually use it!

3 Days of Halloween – Day 3

Hello everyone! For Day 3 of my 3 Days of Halloween blog post series I have a 3D project for you. lol I didn’t even plan that, but I like the connection.  3D for Day 3. 🙂

I haven’t used my Gift Box Punch Board for awhile, but it was still super fun. This is the largest box the punch board can make, 4 x 4″. You need a 12 x 12″ piece of cardstock or DSP (Designer Series Paper) to make this box. It really is a big box – I fit lots of candy inside!

witches-and-trees

This striped pattern is my favorite from the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. There are lots of great designs, as you can see below.

halloween-night-dsp

Here are the other two sides of my box. There really are some adorable little dies in the Halloween Scenes Edgelits die set.

tombstones-and-bats

It was a little tricky coming up with the topper for the box. I knew I wanted something though so I experimented. The circles are Pumpkin Pie and Basic Gray. I die cut them with circle dies from the new Layering Circles Framelits Dies. Sadly, I don’t remember which ones I used – you’ll have to experiment to find the right size. 🙂 Feel free to post a comment if you do find out which sizes work well.

topI adhered a length of the black and grey baker’s twine from the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine pack (the other twine in the pack is Pumpkin Pie and Black) between the two cardstock circles and added a sprinkling of Halloween Night Enamel Dots.

tree

I wanted to give a close up of my favorite side of the box – I really can’t get enough of this spooky tree! Hopefully I will be able to find a way to use this year round – maybe add some flowers and make it a spring-time tree? We’ll see. 🙂

I hope you have been inspired – maybe to do some Halloween crafting and get a head start for next year 🙂 – or to create a different box with a Thankful theme or a Christmas theme.

Joyful stamping!

In Colors “For You”

Hello everyone! If you saw my last blog post, this card may seem familiar. My last post, Color Blocking with In Colors featured five different layouts with the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I thought the last layout was so fun, I decided to keep creating with it.

A

I have been playing around with these In Colors a lot. It’s always fun to create with new product – everything feels fresh and original. It’s also fun to see how the products that carried over from the old catalog can really compliment these new items. For example, I think the Large Polka Dot embossed background is a really cool contrast to all of the fun and playful In Color die cuts.B

These dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die set are so much fun to use on cards, as well as mini treat bags. My favorite one is the “for you” sentiment die. I love the font. I popped the heart up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

C

I hope you are inspired to create with these mini treat bag thinlits dies and/or the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I also hope you try your hand at combining carry over product with new product for a fresh look!

Color Blocking with In Colors

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago I held a New Catalog Launch party. One of the Make & Takes was a color blocking card with the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I had a few extra cards prepped and thought I would have some fun coming up with different ways to finish off this card using the color blocking with the In Colors as the starting point. The strips of cardstock are 3 3/4 x 5″.

Leave me a comment below and let me know which of the five versions is your favorite!

Die Cut

Card #1: Flourish Thinlits and Floral Phrases stamp set.

(For a little extra dimension and to make the spacing easier I glued the colored cardstock strips to a piece of 4 x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White carstock and then adhered it to the card base.)

Hip Hip Hooray

Card #2: Party Pop Ups Thinlits

Embossed

Card #3: Gold Embossed with Floral Phrases stamp set

Tone on Tone

Card #4: Tone-on-tone with Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set

(Sweet Sugarplum banner 3 5/8 x 1 3/4″, Whisper White banner 3 3/8 x 1″)

Mini Treat Bag

Card #5: Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies & Rhinestone Basic Jewels

(3 1/2 x 1/2″ banner, it is smaller than the die)

I hope you are inspired to try your hand at some color blocking, especially with the new 2016-2018 In Colors. They look awesome together!

Birthday Cards, Die Cut Cards, Stampin' Up!

Just a Little Wink

Hello everyone! In my last post, Flowering Flourishes, I had some fun with the in-laid die cut technique and the Flourish Thinlits. Today’s card also features the Flourish Thinlits, but this time they are are free standing and just as gorgeous!
Wink Front

It’s funny how some cards develop from one spark of an idea. My only plan starting out was to do the leaf die cut in Old Olive. I pretty much built the rest of the card around that. I am really happy with the results. 🙂

IMG_4103

It doesn’t show up super well in the photos, but I added some clear glitter with the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush. The die cuts are beautiful on their own, but who doesn’t like a little glitter? 😉

Wink Close Up

I used to be all about Crumb Cake, but recently I am seeing the beauty of Sahara Sand. It is an even starker contrast with these bright colors than Crumb Cake was. Look how those cute little die cuts pop against the gentle Sahara Sand backdrop. It’s fun to have so many great neutrals to choose from!

IMG_4100

Dimensions: Card base is 4 1/4 x 11″ (scored in half at 5 1/2″), Whisper White background layer is 3 3/4 x 5″. The Whisper White sentiment piece is 1 x 2 3/4″. The Sahara Sand sentiment layer is  1 1/4 x 3″.

Tips & Tricks: I popped the sentiment layers up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I recommend brushing the die cuts with Wink of Stella before adhering them so you don’t get extra glitter on your card. I adhered the die cuts with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I stamped off with the Rich Razzleberry ink before stamping the sentiment. It was too dark for my liking, what with such a fine script.ZIG Wink of Stella GLITTER CLEAR Brush Tip Marker 025320 Preview Image

I hope you are inspired to try your hand with some Wink of Stella. The glitter pen format makes it super easy to control the amount of glitter you apply. The pens come in clear and gold and are super fun to use.
