Lemon Lime Twist Thank You Card & Berry Burst Birthday Card

Today I have the last two cards for you that I made for my new In Color class a few weeks ago. It has been fun to relive the class through blogging. Please leave me a comment and let me know if you’ve enjoyed these In Color cards and coordinating card box (see links near end of post). Scroll to the bottom of my this blog post for card dimensions and supply lists. Both of the cards today showcase the delightful Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. It was available in the last annual catalog in Night of Navy. I have very much enjoyed the makeover this DSP received in the new annual catalog. 🙂 Amazing how different it looks with these bright and cheery In Colors.

The inside of the card has a floral image from the Floral Phrases stamp set that coordinates with the Fresh Florals DSP stack as well as a sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  I really like how well the floral image goes with this particular design from the DSP stack.I just adore the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon that is available in all five new In Colors.  I am not very talented with bows so I am always trying to think of different ways to use ribbon that I like. This Lemon Lime card shows an alternative way I came up with to use the ribbon.  It’s like a ribbon shaped ribbon. lol Hard to describe.

I secured the ribbon to the back of the circles by laying down some Snail first and also putting some dimensionals down with half the dimensional on the ribbbon and half of it on the cardstock. This allowed me to pop the ribbon/circle piece up as well as really secure the ribbon in place.

If you’ve read some of my blog posts before, you may know that I love stamping on Stampin’ Up! envelopes – they are specifically designed for it! I thought I was a little inventive with this envelope stamping. 🙂 I stamped the floral image upside down on the front (still looks great, huh?) with the idea of the recipient’s address being written above it (where my watermark is). I stamped the floral image on the back of the envelope specifically where I did as if it was a wax seal. The elegance of this floral image made me think of the olden days when wax seals were used to ensure the letter arrived to the recipient unopened.

I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) this Berry Burst Happy Birthday card from fellow demonstrator Jodi Reinert at Stampin’ With Jodi. I changed the punch and sentiment and added the bow.  The inside and outside sentiments are part of an awesome stamp set that carried over into the new annual catalog. The set is called “Better Together” and is a collection of coordinating sentiments for inside and outside the card. I have really been liking those lately.

These Bitty Bows are also available in all five of the new 2017-2019 In Colors. I can’t get enough of them! I also can’t get enough of the Stitched Shapes Framelits that first debuted as an early release to last year’s Holiday Catalog. It is a super versatile framelit set because it has four of each of the following shapes: squares, circles, and ovals.  A great buy if you can’t afford all of the layering framelits sets Stampin’ Up! offers. I popped the die cut up over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

During the month of August demonstrators get to preorder from the Holiday Catalog. But it’s not just demonstrators who get to have all the fun – you too can preorder the “Carols of Christmas” stamp set and coordinating “Card Front Builder Thinlits” dies (separately or in a bundle), through the end of August. You can even use your Bonus Days coupons that you earned in July towards this stamp set and die set. The Holiday Catalog goes live for customers September 1st.

If you would like to buy any Stampin’ Up products, you can shop on line 24/7 in my online store HERE, or get in touch with me at stephaniemackey2012@gmail.com.  I would love to help you in whatever way I can.

I hope you are inspired to use ribbon in different ways on your projects and to pull out that beautiful DSP you’ve purchased and to actually use it!

Joyful stamping!

Tasty Treats Popsicle Card

Hello everyone! Even though we are just beginning spring, I have a summer themed card for you today, as you can see. I designed this card around the “Tasty Treats Designer Washi Tape” which is part of the Cool Treats suite of products. At first I thought this suite was only appropriate for the summer months, but now I think it’s fun to make and send anytime of the year.

I really love the little accents the “Cool Treats” stamp set has. The diagonal stripes, the two vertical stripes to make it look like twin pops, the cute little cherry. I think the popsicle with the little bit out of it is hilarious and very authentic. 🙂 I love how you can go the popsicle direction like I did, or the ice cream way, or even mix them together.

Below you can see some of the adorable accent stamps. I wish I had noticed the little curved pieces before I assembled this card. I would have used one to give the Pool Party popsicle on the left a little shine. I stamped off the main image of the Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach popsicles on my grid paper and then stamped the accent stamp full strength (without stamping off). I rounded the corners of this layer with the Project Life Corner Punch.

I like the contrast of the Whisper White layer against the colorful washi tape (no need for a colored cardstock layer in between). I popped up the popsicle layer with dimensionals and added some Sale-A-Bration 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon (gold here) underneath.  I adhered the ends of a length of ribbon under the washi tape layer and then tied a shorter length of ribbon around it in a knot. Much easier than bows!

Since Stampin’ Up! envelopes are made to be stamped on, I jazzed up the envelope flap with some more playful popsicles.

Here’s a look at the card and envelope together. I love the coordination. 🙂

I hope you are inspired to create some summer fun cards in anticipation of those warm, relaxing summer days. If you’d like to do some creating with the Cool Treats suite of products and don’t already have a demonstrator, I’d love to earn your business. Send me a message or click the icon to my online store.

Joyful stamping!

“What a Gem” Paper Pumpkin Kit Bonus Card

Hello everyone! Today’s card showcases the stamp set from the July Paper Pumpkin kit, “What a Gem”. I decided to show a Paper Pumpkin card because Stampin’ Up! recently introduced a Bogo Paper Pumpkin promotion. Below are the suggested projects for the kit contents. I plan to fill these little 3D geometric shaped containers with candy.and give them to the teachers at the high school I used to teach at on the first day of school.

A few months ago, I started offering a Paper Pumpkin class where we make cards using the past month’s Paper Pumpkin stamp set. I’ve really enjoyed being creative and getting even more bang for my buck out of the Paper Pumpkin kits. 🙂

Silver Gem Card

I love using glimmer paper, but I don’t usually pull it out. This kit’s name, “What a Gem” inspired me to think shiny and sparkly. I’m glad it did, because I just love shimmer it adds to this card. Silver Gem Card

I am a huge embossing powder fan. I was sad when Stampin’ Up! retired most of their colored embossing powders, but am glad they left us the metallic colors so we can add that gorgeous shine to our cards. 🙂

DSP Strips with Affectionately Yours Paper

Hello everyone! Today’s card is a bright one. It features the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) and comes with a picture tutorial.  This layout is awesome for showcasing all of the beautiful designs of a DSP pack. I am excited to try it with some of the other awesome DSP packs in the 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

Stripes Angle

  1. Begin by cutting some strips of DSP, or use scraps. Make sure that they are long enough to fit across the cardstock base you will be adhering them to. For this card the cardstock base is 3 3/4 x 5″. I cut some DSP strips to a 1/2″ width and a few to 3/4″ width for variety. Lay down some Snail Adhesive on your cardstock piece to keep the DSP strips in place. IMG_4133

2. As you lay down your strips be sure to place them tightly together, leaving no cardstock showing through. It will be very obvious at the end. Also, be sure that the DSP strips hang off both sides of the cardstock base to ensure your entire base is covered.  If you want to go the easy route, just use 12″ strips. Then you’ll be sure to have long enough strips. You could probably get away with 7 or 8″ strips too. Obviously, as you get closer to the ends you don’t need as long of strips.

IMG_4134

3. When you have covered your cardstock base with DSP strips, turn it over and use Paper Snips to trim off the DSP that hangs over the sides.

IMG_4138

4. Behold your breathtaking creation!

Here are a few more shots of the card. I thought the yellow flower from the Botanical Blooms Thinlits Dies set worked really well to bring out the little bits of yellow in the DSP designs. Strips

I adhered the flower with a glue dot and the sentiment piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you are inspired to try this layout and have fun with some DSP. 🙂

In Colors “For You”

Hello everyone! If you saw my last blog post, this card may seem familiar. My last post, Color Blocking with In Colors featured five different layouts with the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I thought the last layout was so fun, I decided to keep creating with it.

A

I have been playing around with these In Colors a lot. It’s always fun to create with new product – everything feels fresh and original. It’s also fun to see how the products that carried over from the old catalog can really compliment these new items. For example, I think the Large Polka Dot embossed background is a really cool contrast to all of the fun and playful In Color die cuts.B

These dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die set are so much fun to use on cards, as well as mini treat bags. My favorite one is the “for you” sentiment die. I love the font. I popped the heart up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

C

I hope you are inspired to create with these mini treat bag thinlits dies and/or the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I also hope you try your hand at combining carry over product with new product for a fresh look!

Color Blocking with In Colors

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago I held a New Catalog Launch party. One of the Make & Takes was a color blocking card with the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I had a few extra cards prepped and thought I would have some fun coming up with different ways to finish off this card using the color blocking with the In Colors as the starting point. The strips of cardstock are 3 3/4 x 5″.

Leave me a comment below and let me know which of the five versions is your favorite!

Die Cut

Card #1: Flourish Thinlits and Floral Phrases stamp set.

(For a little extra dimension and to make the spacing easier I glued the colored cardstock strips to a piece of 4 x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White carstock and then adhered it to the card base.)

Hip Hip Hooray

Card #2: Party Pop Ups Thinlits

Embossed

Card #3: Gold Embossed with Floral Phrases stamp set

Tone on Tone

Card #4: Tone-on-tone with Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set

(Sweet Sugarplum banner 3 5/8 x 1 3/4″, Whisper White banner 3 3/8 x 1″)

Mini Treat Bag

Card #5: Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies & Rhinestone Basic Jewels

(3 1/2 x 1/2″ banner, it is smaller than the die)

I hope you are inspired to try your hand at some color blocking, especially with the new 2016-2018 In Colors. They look awesome together!

All Occasion Cards, Birthday Cards, Designer Series Paper Cards, Just Because Cards, Stampin' Up!

Double Vision

Hello everyone! Today’s post is a double feature. Both cards have the same design and basic color scheme, but one is subdued while the other is bold.

IMG_4123

Both cards feature the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). One neat thing about Stampin’ Up!’s DSP packs is that all the colors used in each individual pack coordinate with the other colors used in that pack. That way, even if you use a one color design like I did on both cards, you don’t have to think too long about what colors to use with it.IMG_4121

I love how the large chunks of Watermelon Wonder contrast with the pops of Night of Navy in the bold card. I also love the softness of the light contrast between the little dots of Watermelon Wonder and the Crumb Cake in the subdued card. Which one is your favorite? Leave me a comment below and let me know. 🙂

IMG_4124

Instructions: Cut a piece of DSP to 3 3/4 x 4 1/4″.  If you want a larger gap between your pieces simply make your DSP starting piece shorter than 4 1/4″.  To create the gap between the pieces of DSP you will need to use your Stampin’ Trimmer.  It looks strange at first, but when cutting you need to make sure the top left hand corner of the DSP is on the right side of your cutting blade.  The ruler extends to 1 1/4 on the right side of the blades. This is important for creating the slant that you want.  I wanted a gentle slant so I placed the top left hand corner of the DSP at the 1 1/4″ mark on the right hand side of the blade and I lined up the bottom right hand corner with the 1 1/4″ line on the left hand side of the blades. If you want steeper slant, simply line those same corners up with lines closer to the cutting blade.

IMG_4125

This layout is great if you really want your DSP to shine. With so much of the pattern showing, your DSP is sure to get lots of attention! The “HAPPY” sentiment is from the “Celebrate Today” stamp set. I stamped the “birthday” image on the inside of the cards in Watermelon Wonder ink. I punched the flower out with the Flower Medallion punch and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you are inspired to try this layout with your favorite DSP. I’d love to see what you come up with. If you send me your creations at stephaniemackey2012@gmail.com, I might include them in a future blog post. 🙂

Joyful stamping!

Birthday Cards, Die Cut Cards, Stampin' Up!

Just a Little Wink

Hello everyone! In my last post, Flowering Flourishes, I had some fun with the in-laid die cut technique and the Flourish Thinlits. Today’s card also features the Flourish Thinlits, but this time they are are free standing and just as gorgeous!
Wink Front

It’s funny how some cards develop from one spark of an idea. My only plan starting out was to do the leaf die cut in Old Olive. I pretty much built the rest of the card around that. I am really happy with the results. 🙂

IMG_4103

It doesn’t show up super well in the photos, but I added some clear glitter with the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush. The die cuts are beautiful on their own, but who doesn’t like a little glitter? 😉

Wink Close Up

I used to be all about Crumb Cake, but recently I am seeing the beauty of Sahara Sand. It is an even starker contrast with these bright colors than Crumb Cake was. Look how those cute little die cuts pop against the gentle Sahara Sand backdrop. It’s fun to have so many great neutrals to choose from!

IMG_4100

Dimensions: Card base is 4 1/4 x 11″ (scored in half at 5 1/2″), Whisper White background layer is 3 3/4 x 5″. The Whisper White sentiment piece is 1 x 2 3/4″. The Sahara Sand sentiment layer is  1 1/4 x 3″.

Tips & Tricks: I popped the sentiment layers up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I recommend brushing the die cuts with Wink of Stella before adhering them so you don’t get extra glitter on your card. I adhered the die cuts with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I stamped off with the Rich Razzleberry ink before stamping the sentiment. It was too dark for my liking, what with such a fine script.ZIG Wink of Stella GLITTER CLEAR Brush Tip Marker 025320 Preview Image

I hope you are inspired to try your hand with some Wink of Stella. The glitter pen format makes it super easy to control the amount of glitter you apply. The pens come in clear and gold and are super fun to use.

Joyful stamping!

Birthday Cards, Stampin' Up!, Washi Tape Cards

Wonderful Washi Tape

Hello everyone! Gone are the days when washi tape was just an accent piece on a card. Now, Stampin’ Up! has given us such beautiful washi tape designs that it would be a shame not to let it be front and center on our card!

Front Washi

The three washi tape designs showcased on my card today are from the Affectionately Yours” collection. There are several other coordinating products, but I thought it would be fun to just work with the washi tape and give it a chance to shine. I really like the other two patterns in this collection, but didn’t want the card to get too busy. Plus, I had to leave some room for stamping! 🙂

Washi

How fun would it be to try different combinations of designs from this set? I am also super motivated to pull out the retired washi tape collections I have and go to town, even though I can’t use them on my blog or for the classes I teach in my home.

Side Washi

***A little note: It is a little hard to see in these pictures, but I used Night of Navy ink for all the stamping, not black ink.

Inside Washi

I could have trimmed the washi tape along the sides for a crisp look, but I thought it would be a fun surprise to just wrap it around have some pops of color.

I hope you are inspired to create some cards featuring the beautiful designs of Stampin’ Up!’s washi tape. The possibilities are endless!

Joyful stamping!

All Occasion Cards, Birthday Cards, Designer Series Paper Cards, Just Because Cards, Stampin' Up!, Thank You Cards

Sweet Schoolhouse Thank You

Hello everyone! Today’s card is a delightful DSP card. I CASEd the layout from Susan Itell’s blog, Simple Stampin’, but I changed up the Designer Series Paper.  I made this card with two different DSP Collections to show you how this layout will work for pretty much any DSP!
Blue School Angle

Blue School

Blue School Flat

This first card showcase designs from the Schoolhouse DSP.  It will be retiring at the end the month. If you don’t have it yet, I suggest ordering it now, while you still can! 🙂

I chose a sentiment from the “Apple of my Eye” stamp set for this card. I am thinking of it as a Thank You card, but with a sentiment like “You’re just the sweetest” you could also use this card as a Birthday card or a Just Because card.

Supplies**: Schoolhouse DSP, Apple of my Eye stamp set, 2″ Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Pool Party Cardstock, Whisper White Cardstock, Whisper White Thick Cardstock, Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad, Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad, Stampin’ Trimmer, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive.

I thought it would be neat to see what this Schoolhouse DSP card looked like with a different accent color.  The card below features Tangerine Tango instead of Pool Party for the accents. I also used Pool Party for the Sentiment instead of Daffodil Delight.  Leave me a comment and let me know which accent color you prefer for this card.

Orange School Angle

Orange School Flat

**Supplies are the same as above cards with the following substitutions: Tangering Tango Cardstock and Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad.

I didn’t see any dimensions on Susan’s blog, so I played around and figured out my own. Took awhile to figure it out, but now I can I can whip up this card super quick. 🙂 The card base is 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored in half at 5 1/2″.  The colored cardstock layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The Whisper White layer is 3 3/4″ x 5″. The two small vertical panes measure 2 3/8″ x 1/4″ and the long horizontal pane measures 3 1/2″ x 1/4″. The drawing below is the area that the cardstock DSP (Designer Series Paper) covers. It does not show any cardstock area.

IMG_3993

The following card was the first card I made. It showcases the retired “Sea Street” DSP. I wanted to include it in this blog for those of you who still had some in your retired stash. Whenever I see cards like this that use lots of DSP I immediately think of all the retired DSP I have.Sea

Sea Flat

**Supplies are the same as above cards with the following substitutions: Real Red Cardstock, Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad, & Tin of Cards Stamp Set.

I hope you are inspired to try this layout out with your favorite DSP – be it current or retired. 🙂 If you would like to share your creations with me, you can do so via email at stephaniemackey2012@gmail.com and I will post them to my blog in a future post.
