Barn Door Stamp Set, Christmas Cards, Interactive Cards

A Barn Door Christmas with Frosted Floral DSP

Hello! It’s hard to believe it has been well over a year since I’ve shared a project here. I struggled with balancing blogging, caring for my two little girls (the second of which was born a month or so after my last blog post) and prepping for my in-home Stampin’ Up! classes.   Check out my two cuties below!

44155150_694789475122_3497430502363627520_o

I have had high hopes of starting to blog again – hopefully this post is the first of many! I figured it would be a great New Year’s resolution and thought I should get into the groove a little early. 🙂 I would truly appreciate likes, comments, and shares to keep me motivated with creating my own cards and sharing ideas with others. Thanks in advance for your support!

This stamp set, “Barn Door” has been one of my favorites since it first came out last year. I love anything interactive when it comes to cards.  This set is not a Christmas set in and of itself, but when you pair it with a Christmas sentiment (this one is from the “Feather & Frost” stamp set) this card quickly becomes Christmas-y. 🙂

Add an Iridescent Boxwood Wreath and this card’s Christmas factor is totally amped up. These little embellishments coordinate perfectly with the gorgeous shimmery Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper. I’m so sad it will be retiring January 2nd when the 2018 Holiday Catalog ends. Order now to get your hands on it before supplies run out!

20181207_232342-731402160.jpg

Add a nice large sentiment on the inside, sign your name, and your Christmas card is complete!  Now for the envelope. 🙂 I add DSP to the envelope flap whenever possible. I love giving the recipient a little teaser of the fun that is to come once they open their card.

*Tips for adding DSP to the flap: 1)Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to 6 x 2 1/4″  2)Apply the adhesive (Snail is recommended) to the outside of the envelope flap (rather than the strip of DSP) 3)Line the DSP up with the seam of the envelope and press firmly to adhere it to the flap  4)Use Paper Snips (Stampin’ Up!’s handy tiny scissors) to trim off the excess DSP  5)Sit back and soak in the beauty of Stampin’ Up!’s amazing DSP!

Stampin’ Up! released a how-to video for the Barn Door Stamp Set and Sliding Door Framelits when they were first released. Check it out below to see these products in action.

I made about 8 of these Barn Door Frosted Floral cards this year, but I think I will make some more to send out next year. I invite you to join me in my New Year’s Resolution of making 10-15 Christmas Cards each month, starting in January. I sent out about 135 cards this year. You can adjust your goals as needed. 🙂 Order your supplies now so you are ready to start whenever you’ve got the time!

Birthday Cards, Die Cut Cards, Stampin' Up!, Thank You Cards

Lemon Lime Twist Thank You Card & Berry Burst Birthday Card

Today I have the last two cards for you that I made for my new In Color class a few weeks ago. It has been fun to relive the class through blogging. Please leave me a comment and let me know if you’ve enjoyed these In Color cards and coordinating card box (see links near end of post). Scroll to the bottom of my this blog post for card dimensions and supply lists. Both of the cards today showcase the delightful Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. It was available in the last annual catalog in Night of Navy. I have very much enjoyed the makeover this DSP received in the new annual catalog. 🙂 Amazing how different it looks with these bright and cheery In Colors.

The inside of the card has a floral image from the Floral Phrases stamp set that coordinates with the Fresh Florals DSP stack as well as a sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  I really like how well the floral image goes with this particular design from the DSP stack.I just adore the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon that is available in all five new In Colors.  I am not very talented with bows so I am always trying to think of different ways to use ribbon that I like. This Lemon Lime card shows an alternative way I came up with to use the ribbon.  It’s like a ribbon shaped ribbon. lol Hard to describe.

I secured the ribbon to the back of the circles by laying down some Snail first and also putting some dimensionals down with half the dimensional on the ribbbon and half of it on the cardstock. This allowed me to pop the ribbon/circle piece up as well as really secure the ribbon in place.

If you’ve read some of my blog posts before, you may know that I love stamping on Stampin’ Up! envelopes – they are specifically designed for it! I thought I was a little inventive with this envelope stamping. 🙂 I stamped the floral image upside down on the front (still looks great, huh?) with the idea of the recipient’s address being written above it (where my watermark is). I stamped the floral image on the back of the envelope specifically where I did as if it was a wax seal. The elegance of this floral image made me think of the olden days when wax seals were used to ensure the letter arrived to the recipient unopened.

I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) this Berry Burst Happy Birthday card from fellow demonstrator Jodi Reinert at Stampin’ With Jodi. I changed the punch and sentiment and added the bow.  The inside and outside sentiments are part of an awesome stamp set that carried over into the new annual catalog. The set is called “Better Together” and is a collection of coordinating sentiments for inside and outside the card. I have really been liking those lately.

These Bitty Bows are also available in all five of the new 2017-2019 In Colors. I can’t get enough of them! I also can’t get enough of the Stitched Shapes Framelits that first debuted as an early release to last year’s Holiday Catalog. It is a super versatile framelit set because it has four of each of the following shapes: squares, circles, and ovals.  A great buy if you can’t afford all of the layering framelits sets Stampin’ Up! offers. I popped the die cut up over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Click the links to see the past posts on the Tranquil Tide card, Powder Pink card, and the Fresh Fig card. I also created a card holder box that coordinates with these 2017-2019 In Color Cards.

During the month of August demonstrators get to preorder from the Holiday Catalog. But it’s not just demonstrators who get to have all the fun – you too can preorder the “Carols of Christmas” stamp set and coordinating “Card Front Builder Thinlits” dies (separately or in a bundle), through the end of August. You can even use your Bonus Days coupons that you earned in July towards this stamp set and die set. The Holiday Catalog goes live for customers September 1st.

Stampin' Up!, Sympathy Cards

Sympathy Card with “Fresh Fig” Ink and Ribbon

When I was designing the cards for this new In Color Card Collection (scroll down this post to see all five cards and click here for the coordinating card box) I was aiming for a variety of card types.  I knew I wanted to have a sympathy card in the mix and Fresh Fig seemed like it could be a consoling color when paired with the right stamps and card design. I think Tranquil Tide would be my other choice for a sympathy card.

I love the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon that is available in all five of the 2017-2019 In Colors. Thanks to fellow demonstrator, Josee Smuck, for the ribbon graphic below.   I didn’t want to get too flowery with a big ribbon on this sympathy card, so I opted for a more subtle option and ran it along the middle of the card. I really like the way it provides a darker contrast and an anchoring point for the sentiment, which I popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

It has been awhile since I’ve created my own DSP (Designer Series Paper) like this. I took the large flower image from the Watercolor Words stamp set and stamped it repeatedly to create a gorgeous background.   It really is a great way to stretch your stamps.  I stamped on the envelope flap as well, something I try to do as much as possible – the outside can be pretty too!

The Watercolor Words stamp set  has some beautiful large sentiments and a few more large images that could also work well for creating your own DSP.

The sentiments on the front and inside of my card come from a set that carried over from the last annual catalog (and I’m glad it did!) called “Better Together”. It is full of coordinating inside/outside sentiments.

I have been using the “Better Together” stamp set a lot. Although I still write a short personal message in every card I send, it helps to have a little something stamped to start you off. It looks pretty too. 🙂 This stamp set has been a great investment – it’s so versatile with sentiments for so many occasions: New Baby, Birthday, Sympathy, Wedding, Just a Note, and Christmas, as well as cute coordinating graphic stamps.

Thank You Cards

Tranquil Tide Thanks Card

Here is the second card in the collection of In Color cards I created for my In Color card class. Click here to see the first card in the collection and here to see the coordinating card box.   Scroll down to see all five cards I created. This gorgeous new In Color is called Tranquil Tide. Makes you feel calm picturing an peaceful ocean this color.
The Detailed Floral Thinlits die set makes it so easy to create elegant cards. I chose not to use the edgelit piece to cut out the detailed pieces and instead just ran the two detailed pieces through the Big Shot together to get this beautiful laser cut look. Here is a close up of the intricate die cutting. It’s so much fun to see how this die cut looks used with different colors of cardstock.   If I have a chance to create this card in the other new In Colors, I’ll be sure to post them. I really like these matching inside/outside stamp sentiments.  I’ve been doing a lot of inside sentiment stamping lately.  It’s fun to see that pop of color inside the card as well as all the gorgeousness happening on the outside. 🙂

Congratulations Cards, Stampin' Up!

Powder Pink Congrats Card with Flourish Thinlits Dies

Here is the first of the 5 new In Color Cards mentioned in my last post. Click here to see the coordinating card box. Scroll to the bottom of this post to see all five cards. I will post the other four in the next few days. I think this card has a few possibilities – Wedding Card, Baby Girl Card, general elegant congratulations card for a female.  Love that versatility. 🙂

I have not used the “Banners for You” stamp set and coordinating “Bunch of Banners Framelits” dies as much as I thought I would since I bought them. They got pushed to the back of my supplies and I kind of forgot about them. I am so glad I remembered them.  I really love the simple “congrats” banner on this card.

I also have been neglecting my “Flourish Thinlits” dies. Glad I remembered them too. The die I use is the largest die in the set and probably my favorite (my second favorite is the large flower die cut in the top right corner of the picture below).

I love how this large die cut is the perfect statement piece on a card – it’s so beautiful on it’s own you don’t really need to do anything else to the card and it will still wow the recipient. Here is a close up/angled shot of the die cut and banner. This is the perfect kind of intricate die to use with the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets – so nice to have the adhesive ready to go on your die cut – no more fiddling with the fine tip glue pen!) As you can see, I popped the banner up over the die cut (slightly lower the centered) using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the large whisper white layer, which is more visible in the picture above.

Collection of New In Color Cards with Card Box

Earlier this month I taught a card class based on the new 2017-2019 In Colors, with emphasis on the coordinating Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. I had so much fun creating these cards, and especially the coordinating box to hold them (scroll down a bit to see the cards).

This box is very deep. I easily fit five cards plus envelopes. I am positive you could comfortably fit ten cards plus envelopes. I really liked how sturdy this box was when I created it with the Thick Whisper White Cardstock. Stampin’ Up! also has a Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock, which is a new product with the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog that just went live in June. Here’s a closer look at the top of the box. I really like the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon (it’s so soft!), available in all five of the new 2017-2019 In Colors (Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, & Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide).

I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) the dimensions for this box from Gayle Thompson (not a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator). I changed everything else (cardstock, DSP, embellishments) to make my box coordinate with the card collection I was creating. Here is the link to the video tutorial (**It’s a long one!**)

To speed up the process of creating this box again, I created a written tutorial (see the end of this post) based on Gayle’s video tutorial. Hope it helps you!

In the coming week I will post these cards individually with supplies, dimensions, and tips & tricks.  For today, I hope you enjoy this post on the coordinating card box.

Summery Birthday Card with Colorful Season Stamp Set

If you’re looking for a versatile stamp set, Colorful Seasons is the one you want.  If you like to make your  cards match the time of year you send them in,  combine it with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die set you are good to go.  I decided to make a summery birthday card for my first card with this set.

I really enjoy the happy, relaxed feeling that resulted from combining these bright colors with these vacation-themed images.

Below is a close up of the intricate beach chair and the adorable little drink, complete with a tiny straw. How cute is that! This is where the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die plays its part.  Die cutting the drink and adhering it with a glue dot makes it pop just a little bit more than simply stamping it.

Dragonfly Card with Basket Weave Technique

If you’ve never tried the Basket Weave Technique, you have got to give it a go! I think it’s the coolest (and easiest technique) I’ve seen in awhile.

It looks pretty neat from the front . . .
. . . but the real WOW factor comes when you open it up. It’s almost like an optical illusion. So cool.

This card features a die from the  Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies. I adhered it with a few glue dots on just the body of the dragonfly so that the wings could pop up.

I hope you are inspired to try this awesome technique. Here is a link to the video tutorial, the written tutorial, and the template I used to do this technique. I saw this technique on Splitcoast Stampers.  It was posted by a woman named by Kelly Acheson.

Emerald Envy & Detailed Floral Thinlits Birthday Card

I created this card awhile ago, but now that I have started blogging again, I thought I’d still share it. I love the contrast of the Basic Black against the bold Emerald Envy, with those little copper accents for even more interest.

I’m sure some of the first things that caught your eye were the beautifully intricate die cuts.  These are part of the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies that carried over from last year’s Annual Catalog into this year’s 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. I am glad they did because they are too amazing to only use for one year!

To get the look on my card today you cut the cardstock to the size you want and then run it through with just the detailed die. Then you position the edge piece and run it through your Big Shot a second time. This will cut out the pattern and you can then adhere it to your layers and base. In a soon-to-come post I will share another way to use these dies. Be sure to check back or subscribe to my blog by email (see box on the right, near the top) so as not to miss it!
The sentiment I used is from the stamp set “Lift Me Up”. It is actually the second line of the sentiment that says “Hope your day is on cloud nine. Happy Birthday”.  I was careful to only ink up the “Happy Birthday”.  You can use washi tape to cover up the part of the sentiment you don’t want to ink.  Be sure to remove the washi tape before you stamp. You may even want to apply a clean piece of washi tape to the part you don’t want stamped to prevent any shadow from past stamping from showing up.

Fresh Florals Anniversary Cards

It seems I am always making anniversary cards last minute, so yesterday I sat down and made 8 of them, 4 of each of these beauties. 🙂 The “Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper” makes it super easy to create gorgeous cards.

With 2 double sided designs in all 5 of the new 2017-2019 In Colors (Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink,  & Tranquil Tide) there are lots of designs and colors to choose from to give you lots of variety in your projects too. These cards showcase Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide.  I am really liking the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon, available in all five of these new In Colors.

My go to stamp set for anniversaries has become the “Banners for You” set.  I also love the coordinating die set, “Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies”.  I think that together they make a great focal point on these cards.

I wanted to have a colored cardstock banner to contrast nicely against the large white spaces in the DSP (Designer Series Paper) so I chose to heat emboss the sentiment and banner outline with white Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the banners.

I hope you are inspired by these cards, maybe to create with the “Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack” or to create cards in bulk so you are always ready or maybe in some other way altogether.  🙂
